Each spring, the Southeast Alaska Independent Living (SAIL) ORCA program sends out an annual survey to all program participants throughout Southeast Alaska.
ORCA (Outdoor Recreation and Community Access) is the adaptive sports and recreation program of SAIL. Our purpose is to promote inclusive recreation and adaptive outdoor pursuits for Southeast Alaskan’s who experience disabilities. We maintain three offices — one in Juneau, one in Ketchikan and one in Sitka. Services include community access and inclusion opportunities, an adaptive ski and snowboard school, youth and transition recreation services, adaptive outdoor pursuits, adaptive equipment for loan, classes and courses, and multi-day domestic and international trips.
“We want to know what you did with us this past year, what you would like to see more of in our program, and any other comments you have to share,” ORCA Program Coordinator Tristan Knudson-Lombardo said. “As an independent living center, we value the feedback from each and every one of you — it is what guides our services we provide.”
Each ORCA program consumer who fills out and returns a completed survey will be entered to win $50 in credit towards their ORCA account for activities, outings and trips. Surveys must be returned by Wednesday, May 7, to the main ORCA office in Juneau: 3225 Hospital Drive, Suite 300, Juneau, AK 99801; or fax at (907) 586-4980; or by email at email@example.com.
Please forward this information along to anyone else who may not have received it. The survey is linked below (scroll to Page 2), can be found on the SAIL website, or at any ORCA office (the Sitka SAIL/ORCA office is located at 514 Lake St. Suite C, and the phone number is 747-6859, Dave Nuetzel is Sitka coordinator). Accessible and alternative formats of the survey are available upon request.
Also, don’t forget SAIL has whale and wildlife cruises scheduled in May for Sitka, Ketchikan and Juneau as fundraisers. The Sitka cruise is from 1:30-4:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 10. The Ketchikan cruise is 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 11, and the Juneau cruise is noon on Saturday, May 17. The cruise costs $50 and Allen Marine donated the boats. Tickets for the Sitka cruise can be purchased at Old Harbor Books or by going to the SAIL website (click the event calendar listings in the upper right corner of the page).
