Sitka Trail Works, Sitka Tribe of Alaska to host Lingít Aaní Trailworks Camp for youth

Sitka Trail Works is teaming up with Sitka Tribe of Alaska to host a week of youth programming for middle and high school age students. During this free, week-long camp, 6th-12th graders will learn about this land through traditional place names and hands-on stewardship.

Each day, campers will meet for a provided lunch then travel to a different site. Meet from noon to 4 p.m. on Monday-Friday, July 11-15, at Pacific High School.

Students will learn from this land through traditional place name and engaging in hands on stewardship, like brushing, clearing drainage, and other trail maintenance. This camp re-imagines the beloved SCORE program formerly led by Sitka Community Schools. The 2022 pilot week will be expanded to a full summer season camp in 2023.
