Sitka Sprouts session on Tuesday is all about making costumes for the Parade of the Species

All about making costumes for the Parade of he Species is the theme for the next session of Sitka Sprouts on Tuesday, April 9.

“We’ll be gathering this coming Tuesday 04/09 at 10:30 am to read a story, play with animals, explore the aquarium, and BUILD COSTUMES!!!” Sitka Sound Science Center science education coordinator Kari Paustian said. “Earth Day is April 22, and I’d love to see our Sprouts families come join Sitka Conservation Society and Sitka Sound Science Center at Totem Square at 3:45 pm to walk up and celebrate the diversity of life on our planet. The parade’s end point is TBD, but it will likely be somewhere close to SSSC or the Sitka Historical National Park. We’re hoping to have Lincoln St closed for the first portion, and then walk along the seawalk the rest of the way. There will be prizes for various costume categories, and celebration all around. Dressing up and coming out is open to all ages, not just littles.”

Sitka Sprouts is a free, weekly science education program designed for 3–5 year olds and parents that takes place from 10:30-11:30 a.m. every Tuesday at the Karsh classroom in the Sitka Sound Science Center. The aquarium is open.
